The Company

AMITEK was established in 1994 and is a privately owned company.

AMITEK specialises in the design and management of systems that purify water, waste water and effluent and is committed to providing world class solutions to purification problems.

AMITEK sources, accumulates, develops and applies innovative technologies for the management of water and wastewater and has established alliances with reputable, like-minded companies who have competencies to achieve this.

AMITEK’s objective of supplying state of the art effluent treatment solutions to its customers is achieved within a framework of best corporate governance practice, especially with a view to sustainability and integrity, meeting customer requirements for quality and service while ensuring a fair and equitable return for all its stakeholders.

AMITEK is a founder member of SEWPACKSA, a self regulatory body of suppliers of small wastewater treatment works under the auspices of the Department of Water Affairs (DWA) in South Africa.

TOTAL SOLUTIONS – AMITEK has obtained a combination of unique competencies in its organisation to enable it to structurally understand effluent and environmental problems. AMITEK is therefore able to provide an integrated approach in its search for and provision of solutions to a wide range of purification and effluent treatment problems.

INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY - The two core technologies used by AMITEK in its design of solutions to its customers’ effluent problems, are:

  • the supply of the completely South African Ampac modular sewage treatment plants and Ampure water treatment plants.
  • bio-augmentation – through AMITEKs’ long-term co-operation agreement with General Environmental Science, based in the USA, who are world leaders in bio remediation, and
  • AMITEK designs, manufactures, installs, commissions and maintains modular sewage treatment plants, the AMPAC, for the treatment of domestic sewage. Compact, simple and robust Ampac plants use the high efficiency combination of return activated sludge plus submerged aeration media as well as a unique configuration of anaerobic, anoxic, aerobic and anoxic reactors to purify effluent through various interlinked stages. This provides optimised purification and treated effluent quality to a standard that meets the requirements of the Department of Water Affairs (DWA) for the release of such treated effluent back into the environment, meeting either the General Limit Values, or Special Limit Values, in terms of Section 39 of the National Water Act of 1998.
  • AMITEK designs, manufactures, installs, commissions and maintains modular water treatment plants for the provision of drinking water or for the treatment of a variety of waste water to drinking water quality. The AMPURE uses a combination of technologies selected according to the nature of the raw water to achieve the purification goal.
  • AMITEK has a long-term co-operation agreement with General Environmental Science Inc. (GES) of Cleveland, Ohio, USA, who are leaders in the field of biotechnology. GES has developed and patented a process that enables the suspension of the metabolism of micro-organisms in a liquid live form for prolonged periods. Pre-selection of bacteria performing specific functions in the treatment of wide range of effluents and pollutants ensure numerous applications. AMITEK has vast experience in micro-organism application technology and uses a number of unique techniques to deliver liquid live micro-organisms.

QUALITY involves ensuring that the correct solution is designed and product supplied, that it is manufactured correctly and performs the required function effectively and efficiently, with due regard to a sustainable environment. Furthermore, quality extends to accurate, user-friendly technical and accounting backup.
